No more armor – how a functional training vest for women was born

Pirkko and Rey

If you've ever tried to dig a ball out of your pocket just as your dog performed perfectly, you already know this: timing is everything.

I had a German Shepherd named Rey. She was full of energy and personality. When we were training, I quickly noticed that regular training vests just didn't work: they were heavy, clumsy, or simply the wrong shape.

I wanted to make a vest that women actually want to wear – and that actually works.

I did a survey among other dog owners and trainers, and that's where the idea started. In this little guide, I'll share five common myths about dog training – and how the right gear can truly make life easier.

Myth 1: Dog training is difficult

Well, it really isn't. It's about communication, trust, and good timing. But many people give up because their gear doesn't help.

For instance, a vest equipped with kangaroo pockets makes rewarding super fast. No need to dig around or fumble – the reward comes at exactly the right time.

👉 Try it like this: Put your dog's favorite ball in the back pocket. When the dog hits the criteria – zup – reward delivered!

Myth 2: Rewarding isn't that important

Some think treats and toys are just bribery. But in reality, rewarding is a central part of good, gentle training.

And when those balls, tug toys, VOM sausages, and other treats are ready in your pocket, every success truly becomes a learning moment. This vest can hold a kilo, or even two, of dog sausage.

👉 Let the vest handle the rewards so you can focus on the moment.

Myth 3: Timing doesn't have to be exact

Well, it does. If the reward comes too late, the dog might not realize what it did right.

When pockets are designed so you can quickly get your balls and tug toys out, successes are rewarded immediately – and learning speeds up.

👉 The faster the reward, the faster the learning.

Myth 4: A training vest has to be some sweaty tin armor

Absolutely not. The Dogiskutsi vest is light, airy, and moves and breathes with you. It doesn't constrict, doesn't look like a tent, and doesn't feel like some sweaty tin armor. And it’s made for actual use – but also to look good.

What I love most is the comfort, the lightness, and the feminine design. No going back to construction-worker vests!

Myth 5: If a vest is stylish, it can't be practical

That’s exactly what we wanted to prove wrong. The Dogiskutsi vest combines functionality and design. It’s feminine, smartly tailored, and the pockets are exactly where they should be.

There are colors too – black, green, lavender, and my personal favorite: the moody peony pattern.

👉 Train lightly and reward quickly.

How to use the vest effectively?

  • Front pockets for treats or toys.
  • Chest pocket for your phone and keys – secured with a zipper.
  • Back pocket for larger toys, treat boxes, dumbbells, or tugs – it’s proven to hold, for example, four flexi-leashes or six treat boxes and track markers.
  • You can adjust the waist for the perfect fit – cleanly and without bunching.

👉 Load up your pockets, and you’ll be ready to focus on training right away.
